about

I had originally wanted to do several versions of “Tell You About It” to reach the widest possible audience. Only the Rock version and the Jazz instrumental ever got finished (I started a Country/Western take on it with pedal steel and Bob Heckman singing the lead, it was never completed because I ran out of money and eventually lost interest in the project).

Rob Boone did a truly excellent job of interpreting my music here. The three horn players who played on the recording (Rob, Greg and Albert) had been playing together ever since high school. They matched each other’s phrasing like the pros they are. I remember telling Greg, the saxophone player, what I wanted on his improvised solo (as far as when to play the melody, when to expand on it and when to play strictly using the chord progression) and he nailed it, big time!
